Why Climbing Is One of the Best After-School Activities for Kids

Looking for a healthy, engaging after-school activity in Lanzarote? Something that builds confidence, burns energy, and doesn’t involve a screen? Indoor climbing might be the answer, and it's gaining traction among local families for good reason.

At Hang On Lanzarote, our climbing classes for kids aged 6–15 offer more than just physical exercise. They develop focus, coordination, problem-solving, and resilience — all in a fun, encouraging space.

Climbing builds both body and mind

Unlike traditional sports that focus on competition, climbing is about personal progress. Kids improve their balance, flexibility, and strength without pressure. Every route is a challenge they can approach in their own way, developing creative thinking and perseverance as they go.

It also sharpens focus. To climb well, kids must stay present, assess problems visually, and plan their next move — skills that translate into the classroom and beyond.

A supportive environment

Our classes are small and age-grouped to ensure proper supervision and a supportive, focused environment. Instructors guide each session with a balance of structure and play, helping kids grow without overwhelming them. There’s no shouting from the sidelines — just encouragement, effort, and the joy of reaching the top.

Schedule, pricing, and flexibility

Climbing classes run from September to June, with sessions held in the afternoons between 16:00 and 19:00. You can choose between once or twice a week. Pricing includes a registration fee with FECAMON insurance and a Hang On t-shirt.

If you're looking for an after-school activity that builds focus, confidence, and community — climbing is one of the best you’ll find in Lanzarote.
